Data Protection Day
Sofoklis Kyriazakos, CEO of Innovation Sprint, writes about Data Protection, on the occasion of Data Protection Day.

Like today, on 28/1/1981, Convention 108 of the Council of Europe was signed, which formed the first legally binding text of international law for the protection of individuals with regard to the collection and processing of their personal data. Personal data is any information related to a natural person whether it relates to the private, professional, or public life of that person.

In 2006, Council of Europe declared 28th January as personal Data Protection Day, which is celebrated every year as an initiative of the Council of Europe with the support of the European Union.

Today, it is celebrated in 47 European countries, in the United States, Canada, and Israel.  The purpose of celebrating this day is to raise the awareness of European citizens on such an important issue as the protection of privacy.

In the age of computers, the Internet, and the so-called 4th Industrial Revolution, there is an urgent need today, perhaps more than ever, for all of us to realize the importance of protecting personal information.

With the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the personal data of European citizens is now subject to appropriate, common legislation aimed at both adequately protecting their privacy and promoting healthy competition between companies.

In Innovation Sprint we consider the protection of personal data of its employees, its customers, and its associates an issue of paramount importance. The high-value system of Innovation Sprint in combination with its policies and procedures determine the taking of correct and ethical decisions always in a framework of respect and reliability. Our company has developed multiple actions in the field of protection and security of personal information, creating a structured system for their management in full harmonization with European legislation and the instructions of the Data Protection Authorities.

For any issue related to the processing of personal data, you can contact the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of the Company, Mr. Nikolaos Loukas, email: dpo@innovationsprint.eu

To meet the challenges of an evolving information-based economy, full cooperation of all of us is required, in order to turn the culture of respect and protection of personal information into the core of our daily activities, so that it can function as one of our competitive advantages and as a tool of superiority.
